WALKERS ORCHARD THERAPY

Welcome to Walkers Orchard Therapy

Counselling & Psychotherapy in Staffordshire, Derbyshire & online

Hello and Welcome

Hello and welcome, I am Catherine, a qualified and registered integrative counsellor offering a warm, safe, therapeutic space for you to talk about what is on your mind.

I offer both short term-term and long-term therapy for adults tailored to your needs either face to face or online. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I adhere to their ethical framework to ensure a professional and safe therapeutic experience.

Therapy in a safe, comfortable, and private setting

Life can feel challenging at time, and you may have been struggling for a while. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, burdened by negative thoughts, seeking to understand yourself more deeply or wanting to make sense of past experiences and find clarity about your life’s direction, therapy can help.

I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can explore your feelings, gain insight into your current situation, and work towards creating a more meaningful and fulfilling future.

How I work

I use an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy, combining different therapeutic methods to include person centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and attachment theory to provide a personalised experience that best meets your needs. At the heart of my work is a commitment to keeping you at the centre of the process, fostering a therapeutic relationship that is built on openness, honesty and trust.

I offer a warm and welcoming space where you can feel safe to share your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will explore your challenges at a pace that feels comfortable for you, supporting your journey towards healing and growth.

Taking the first step

Reaching out for support is a courageous decision, and by visiting my website, you’ve already taken an important first step. I invite you to contact me for a free, no-obligation conversation -either over the telephone or online – lasting around 15 minutes.

This is an opportunity for us to discuss your needs and see if we feel like a good fit to work together. I am here to help you to explore your options and support you in finding a path that feels right for you.

What can counselling help with?

I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, and you may be unsure whether it’s the right step for you. With considerable experience working with those who feel hesitant or doubtful about therapy, I offer a creative and flexible approach to ensure we find the best way to work together.

If talking feels challenging, we can explore other ways of expressing yourself. I also provide "walk and talk" outdoor therapy for those who prefer to move while engaging in the process.

I have supported individuals facing a wide range of life challenges. This list is not exhaustive, as I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs.

Here are some of the issues I work with:

ADD/ADHD, abuse, anger, anxiety, assertiveness, bereavement, bullying, chronic fatigue/long-term illness, cultural issues, depression, identity issues, infertility, low mood and depression, low self-esteem, menopause, personal stress, post-traumatic stress, pregnancy-related issues, redundancy, relationship issues, relationships, service veterans, sexual identity, social anxiety, trauma, and worry.

A bit about me

Before becoming a therapist, I spent time working in education, taking on various roles from teaching to management. My own life experiences combined with engaging in counselling myself led me a career change where I started to work in mental health and wellbeing.

I have worked across a number of diverse settings, including the NHS, emergency services, and a charity supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse. These experiences have provided me with the opportunity and privilege of working with a wide range of individuals, each with their unique challenges. They have also helped me develop deep empathy, compassion, and understanding qualities I bring into my therapy practice.

Outside of the therapy room, I find balance and joy in connecting with nature. Whether I’m walking my dogs or simply enjoying the outdoors, these moments help me recharge and manage my own wellbeing.

My location

My private and professional home-based therapy room is situated in the peaceful village of Marchington, just a short drive from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. I am easily accessible off the A50 from Derby, Burton on Trent, Stoke on Trent, Stafford and Derbyshire. There is ample off road parking on a secure driveway.

In addition to in in person sessions, I offer online therapy for individuals across the UK, making it easy for you to connect from the comfort of your own space.
